Spider BehaviorMost spiders are solitary animals. A few species live together in large colonies. All spiders are predators. Spiders eat insects and other spiders as well. They do not chew their food. Spiders bite their prey and inject venom. After the prey is killed or paralyzed, the spider will suck the juices of the prey. Spiders have different ways of catching prey. Some of them use spider webs, other spiders run after prey, while others ambush their prey. Spiders produce different types of silk. They use silk for webs, shelters, egg sacs, or mating. Not all spiders spin webs. Most spiders have 6 or 8 eyes, but cannot see very well. The jumping spiders have the best eyesight of all spiders. Spiders have many enemies. Some of them include humans, frogs, lizards, birds, ants, centipedes, wasps, and other spiders.
